The Burgiss team is comprised of more than 200 professionals across the globe with comprehensive expertise in the private capital industry. Many of our team members possess CFA, CAIA and PhD credentials, and have worked extensively in the industry. 

 

 

Kendra joined Burgiss in 2001, where she manages the Client Service team and is responsible for directing the client support staff and providing clients with training and problem resolution. Prior to joining Burgiss, Kendra was a Compliance Administrator and Trust Officer at Firstar Mutual Fund Services and a former Tax and Retirement Analyst at Sunstone Financial Group. Kendra was awarded a Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science from Rider University and received her MBA from Marquette University.

Kendra Alaishuski, Director

James is Chief Operating Officer at Burgiss. Prior to joining Burgiss, he worked at an alternative investment boutique. James is a member of the Private Equity Research Consortium’s Advisory Board. He coauthored Inside Private Equity: The Professional Investor’s Handbook with James Kocis, Austin Long, and Craig Nickels. James obtained his Bachelor's Degree from Muhlenberg College and his MBA from the Texas A&M University at Commerce. James holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation.

James Bachman, COO

Julia is responsible for product management of all Burgiss data including Transparency Data, the Burgiss Manager Universe, and all derived data initiatives. Julia joined Burgiss in 2009 and played a key role in the development of Private iQ. Prior to Burgiss, she was an investment associate at American Capital and an Associate Vice President at Dexia, overseeing a portfolio of insured credit derivatives. Julia holds an MBA with financial engineering specialization from the University of Toronto, and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Pace University, where she was enrolled in the honors program.

Julia Bartlett, Director

Steve directs Burgiss’ growing strategic partner program and oversees corporate and legal matters. During his tenure with the company, he has also directed client services, direct sales, and many of the early product implementations. Prior to Burgiss, Steve spent 11 years at ITI, Inc. (now Gravic, Inc) where he was the Product Manager for an early portfolio management system for the general partner market that was acquired by Burgiss in 1998 when he joined the firm. At ITI he managed all facets of product development, client management, and sales. Steve holds a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Lehigh University.

Stephen Bruhns, Director

Lisa is Head of Human Resources and is responsible for the overall development and efficiencies of the human resources program within Burgiss. She has nearly 10 years of human resources experience and 6 years in a legal support role. Prior to joining Burgiss, Lisa was Human Resources Manager of a NJ Community Bank. Earlier in her career she worked in mid-size Law Firms and also spent some time in a sports franchise environment. After graduating Berkeley College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management Administration and an Associate of Science degree in Paralegal Studies, Lisa furthered her education by taking Human Resources Professional Development courses at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Lisa is a Certified Professional in Human Resources through the Human Resources Certification Institute, and is recognized as a Society for Human Resources Management Certified Professional. As a health and fitness advocate, an expanded list of credentials includes NCSF Sports Nutrition Specialist & Certified Personal Trainer.

Lisa R. De La Rosa, PHR, Human Resources Manager

Ken is responsible for Contract Management and Global Real Estate at Burgiss. Over the past 10 years he has Managed Client Relationships, Quality Assurance, Client Executives, Professional Services, and Report Development. Prior to joining Burgiss, Ken was Vice President at Ness responsible for enterprise client relationship management from both a sales and delivery perspective. Prior to Ness, Ken created ‘KHI’ an ‘Industrial Strength Application Development Corporation’ that merged with PCSI and was IPO’d in 2004 as the US operations of Ness. Ken has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Stevens Institute of Technology where he taught graduate level courses at the Howe School of Technology Management that focused on the application of technology and the alignment of Business and IT. Ken has a Bachelor's Degree in Management from Rutgers University and a Master's Degree from Stevens in Technology Management where he graduated with highest honors.

Ken Harney, Director

Wendy is responsible for academic-oriented research projects in the area of Private Capital. Her research includes the performance and risk analyses of private capital funds, and private fund investment strategy studies. Prior to joining Burgiss, she was a Senior Quantitative Researcher at Permal Asset Management, where she carried out research of fund-of-funds performance and risk management. Prior to Permal, she was a Co-Portfolio Manager at Zebra Capital Management. Some of Wendy’s recently published papers include “Oil Price Movements and Risks of Energy Investments”, co-authored with Brown, Chan, and Zhang, at the Journal of Alternative Investment, and “The Persistence of PE Performance”, co-authored with Brown, Chan, Meldrum, and True, at the Journal of Performance Measurement. Wendy received her Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Florida and her Master's Degree in Finance from Beijing University.

Wendy Hu, Senior Researcher

Plamen joined Burgiss in 2008 and has over ten years of experience in private capital. He is Associate Director of Data Operations, with responsibilities that support managed data products, including data collection, driving operational effectiveness, and assuring data quality. In addition to his role within data operations, Plamen is the General Manager for Burgiss’ operations in Sofia, Bulgaria. Plamen holds a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Economics from Saint Peter’s University, and has a certificate in Fundamentals of Alternative Investments from the Investment Management Consultants Association.

Plamen Iliev, Manager, Burgiss LTD

Jim founded the Burgiss Group in 1987 and continues to oversee its strategic direction and operations. He began his involvement in private equity in the late 80′s as a consultant to PaineWebber, where he and his team built one of the first database systems to help investors manage private equity assets. A graduate of the New Jersey Institute of Technology with a degree in Chemical Engineering, Jim is the author (with Alan Zenreich) of The Paradox Programmer’s Guide: PAL by Example; and Inside Private Equity: The Professional Investor’s Handbook with James Bachman, Austin Long, and Craig Nickels. He is also an Entrepreneur-In-Residence at Stevens Venture Center at the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey.

James Kocis, Founder & CEO

Tom is the head of Burgiss’ data operations, overseeing a global team of experts responsible for the development, collection, and quality of managed data assets. In his career, Tom has built and led several successful financial data operations and developed leading decision support tools and analytics for the capital markets and private capital. Previously, Tom was Managing Director for PitchBook Data (Morningstar), a private equity news and data provider, and the Global Director of Data and Analytics at market intelligence firm CapitalBridge (now Ipreo). Earlier in his career, Tom led data product management and operations for VentureEconomics, Thomson Financial, and VentureOne. He also spent six years as Securities Analyst for Coleman and Company Securities. Tom holds a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

Tom Kusner, Managing Director

Jose manages Burgiss’ global infrastructure and daily technical operations. He has over 20 years of technical experience in procurement, general accounting, management, and client services, nearly 15 of which have been at Burgiss. Before joining Burgiss, he was a software developer and graphics designer for Eastman Kodak Co. in Rochester, NY, and Try-Bry IT Solutions in Hoboken, NJ. Jose graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and a Master's Degree in Information Systems from Stevens Institute of Technology.

Jose Lopez, Director

Luis is head of the Burgiss Applied Research team. He has over 15 years of experience in quantitative research and modeling in finance. Luis started his career at McKinsey & Co in Madrid. Before joining Burgiss, he was also a Director at BlackRock where he focused on modeling alternatives, a Director at Axioma, and he headed the US Research group at RiskMetrics. Luis holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Cornell University.

Luis O'Shea, Head of Applied Research

Mukund is responsible for Burgiss’ Software Engineering efforts. Prior to joining Burgiss, he had over 18 years of experience in software development, starting his career as a Software Engineer for Infosys Technologies. He also worked as Senior Advisor with CVS Health, and as a hands-on Development Manager building applications and web sites for Dow Jones. He continued his career in the financial industry working for Ipreo, developing various financial service products. Mukund holds a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology.

Mukund Pai, Director 

Brandon is responsible for the product roadmap and execution of Burgiss' platform, infrastructure, and analytics product portfolio. Since joining Burgiss in 2010, Brandon has served in many critical roles focused on delivering Burgiss' next generation of technology and data solutions. Brandon graduated summa cum laude from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. He is currently working towards a Master's Degree in Computation Finance and Risk Management at the University of Washington with expected graduation in June, 2018.

Brandon Renkart, CAIA, Associate Director

Rob is the global head of Burgiss’ client coverage team. He has over 30 years of institutional sales, relationship management and leadership experience. He began his career with MetLife in the actuarial program with a focus on pricing and account restructures, followed by senior positions in MetLife’s institutional asset management group. Prior to joining Burgiss, Rob was a Senior Vice President with Aviva Investors Americas where he was responsible for all of the firm’s business development activities in the Americas. Prior to Aviva Investors, Rob had senior roles with Credit Suisse, Wilshire Associates, and Neuberger Berman. Rob graduated magna cum laude from Seton Hall University with a Bachelor's Degree in mathematics.

Robert Ranges, Managing Director

Brian is Head of Product Management at Burgiss, where he and his team are responsible for driving the evolution of Burgiss’ products and services. Prior to joining Burgiss, Brian was a Managing Director at MSCI where he worked for over 16 years and was responsible for RiskMetrics, Barra, and HedgePlatform analytical content. Before that, Brian held software development positions at JPMorgan, Glencore, and Hewitt Associates. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from the University of Virginia.

Brian Schmid, Managing Director

Fuhchun is responsible for Burgiss’ Finance team. She has over 25 years of experience in Accounting and Finance. Fuhchun began her career with an accounting position at Steinway & Son’s Piano Manufacturers and later worked for public relations firm Grayling. Fuhchun also worked for the leading global market intelligence, analytics, and investor relations technology firm, CapitalBridge, where she served as Finance Director. She graduated from Queens College with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Finance.
