Burgiss Speaks at the Private Equity Research Consortium (PERC) Conference

Earlier this month, the Burgiss team attended the Private Equity Research Consortium (PERC) Conference, held from November 9 -10 in Chapel Hill, NC. The conference, which was attended by some of the most prominent academic researchers and practitioners in private capital, was sponsored by the Institute for Private Capital.

Brian Schmid, Head of Product Management at Burgiss, provided an update on Burgiss data, speaking on topics such as the Burgiss Manager Universe and Burgiss’ plans to continue to grow the dataset. He also recapped some recent initiatives, such as the 2017 Taxonomy Review that Burgiss conducted earlier this year.

Additionally, Brian gave a brief review of the Burgiss’ Private Capital Classification System (PCCS), the set of taxonomies used to classify private capital across all levels of investing, including funds, their underlying holdings, and direct investments. The PCCS, which has been and will continue to be an area of focus for Burgiss, was introduced at last year’s PERC Conference.
